The 2025 NFL draft came and went in the blink of an eye, leaving the Dallas Cowboys with a new crop of talented rookies in their heads. It was a successful three-day event for America's Team, fleshing out holes with a plethora of picks that have set them up for future success as early as the upcoming season.

But as well as the Cowboys drafted, the time to add promising rookie players isn't over yet. Teams around the league are already scrambling to sign undrafted free agents who could develop into key contributors one day, including one playmaker Dallas just signed who'll likely become an immediate fan favorite.

Cowboys Sign UDFA WR Traeshon Holden Following NFL Draft

The Cowboys entered the NFL draft needing to upgrade their wide receiver room. Even though they didn't accomplish that goal with any of their draft picks, they've since addressed their WR depth with an undrafted free agent signing.

"Oregon WR Traeshon Holden is signing with the Cowboys," NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Saturday night.

Holden, 23, is a big-bodied wideout (six-foot-two, 205 lbs) who'll inject some much-needed competition into the Cowboys' WR room this summer. Even though he wasn't the most gifted receiver in his class, the Kissimmee, FL native's strong work ethic and physical abilities could make him a popular training camp participant.

One thing that Cowboys fans will love about Holden is his ability to consistently improve. The former Alabama-turned-Oregon prospect's reception and yardage totals improved with each passing year, culminating with career highs in catches (45) and receiving yards (718) — along with five touchdowns — across 13 games in 2024.

It'll be interesting to see if Holden will legitimately compete for a 53-man roster spot this offseason. Other than CeeDee Lamb and Jalen Tolbert, there isn't another Dallas wideout whose job is safe. Jonathan Mingo and Jalen Brooks both have a lot to prove, while it remains to be seen how offseason signing Parris Campbell will fit into the mix.

In other words, the Cowboys' WR competition is going to be fun to watch this summer. If Holden can bring the same intensity and work ethic he boasted with the Ducks to Dallas, head coach Brian Schottenheimer will have an easy roster decision to make.

Look for Holden to take the field with the Cowboys when they announce the starting date of their 2025 rookie minicamp within the next week or so.
