It's always tough to see the fan favorites leave, but this was a necessary evil for the Dallas Cowboys. UDFA WR Traeshon Holden has been cut to make room for the Von Miller signing.

Add on a muffed punt to what was a breakout performance by Camden Brown, and all of a sudden, you're in a tough spot. It's not the way we would've liked to end Holden's time here as a Cowboy, but it was too much to take on, especially if the Cowboys are getting a future Hall of Fame pass rusher.

The Cowboys team is slowly coming together for the final 53-man roster, but this was no doubt a tough call for the coaching staff.

Cowboys have released Traeshon Holden to make room for Von Miller

So up top was just Todd Archer announcing the release of Holden, but in Patrik Walker's 'X' post, he directly ties it to the Miller move.

Holden was a fan favorite at the 2025 training camp, when he was making tough catches and showing off his speed. He was cut after last year's preseason but then signed to the practice squad.

Unfortunately for Holden, if there is a WR room that seems about as clear as day now, it's the Cowboys. CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Ryan Flournoy, KaVontae Turpin and Brown look to be the WRs. There's still Marquez Valdes-Scantling to evaluate, but he's looking like a long shot at this point.

Sometimes, it's all about the timing, and the timing between Brown's performance and Holden's muffed punt was terrible.

Hopefully, Holden isn't done getting chances to play in the NFL. He just ran into a deep WR room at the worst time. Even Flournoy broke out last season as the third option. No one saw that coming, but as we said, that's not Holden's fault either.

The Cowboys fans are pumped to see Miller in action, but it does come at a cost. It's a slight one, but it's one that fan favorites will be disappointed to hear about.
