The Washington Commanders got help at wide receiver, and they will be bringing in Stefon Diggs, a hope for his brother, former Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs, to sign for a hometown reunion. Both brothers are from the Washington, D.C. area. That's one storyline for the former Cowboy, but it's also a golden opportunity for George Pickens.
Just a few weeks ago, Stefon said there's no better No. 2 wideout in the league than him. For Cowboys fans who caught this, they would've been quick to point out that the new All-Pro, Pickens, made a heck of a case as the best WR2 in the game, or in this case, 1B.
Pickens is not only the best WR2 out there, but he looked like a true WR1 when Lamb was injured. This isn't even a close conversation, but it appears Diggs didn't think before he spoke.

Just a reminder, let's go over exactly what Diggs said a few weeks ago on his own YouTube channel.
"You can't name a number two better than me...Let's presumably give people the credit and just say, 'Okay, you want to take the number one spot away?' Name your number two receiver right now, and tell me how much he makes, and then my last question is: Is he better than me?"
He definitely wasn't thinking about any other WR when he was making this claim, but Pickens' season behind Lamb couldn't go unnoticed. The Rams, Bengals and Seahawks all have two solid receivers, but he didn't think about that either.
Maybe with Terry McLaurin, Diggs does have a chance to be the best No. 2 option in the league, but he's still got a way to go before he can make that claim.
With Diggs moving to Washington, Pickens has a prime chance to eat Diggs' words from earlier this summer. That will take place in Weeks 2 and 18, when Pickens will get to show who the real No. 2 WR on the field is.
Another case for Pickens is ESPN's WR rankings. They listed Pickens at No. 7, right behind Lamb. Some even argued Pickens was the WR1, but that puts him way above Diggs' words. What's also funny is Diggs didn't even make the "others receiving votes."
There will be a lot of motivation and accountability coming for Pickens this season. He looks to be maturing as a football player, and this is his golden year to play for an extension. The Diggs signing is important from a divisional standpoint, and it spices up the Commanders-Cowboys rivalry a bit more.
