It's deep in the offseason for the Dallas Cowboys, and with the defense already on fire this offseason, there's apparently a new rivalry brewing with the Cowboys, and it's the perfect rivalry they need.
Defensive coordinator Christian Parker has been talking trash to the Cowboys' offense, and the offense has been chirping back. Cowboys reporter Joseph Hoyt says that Parker will go as far as to tell the offense to bring out Brandon Aubrey because they're about to get stopped anyway.
We never saw this type of energy from Mike Zimmer or Matt Eberflus, the last two defensive coordinators, and this proves that Jerry Jones made the home run hire fans have been waiting for. Parker's trash talking is exactly what the team needs to get over a historically awful year on that side of the ball.

Not only have the Cowboys completely changed their identity on defense, but there's a different attitude here, and honestly, we are all here for it. Even Brian Schottenheimer has been frustrated trying to crack Parker's defensive schemes. If you needed more evidence, CeeDee Lamb himself said he was "annoyed" when trying to prepare against the defense.
This is a complete 180 for the Cowboys, going from the franchise's worst defense to hopefully at least a middle-of-the-pack defense. Time will only tell what we see in minicamp will translate to the field in September, but this is a fiery start from Parker if he's getting the offense rattled up.
Who thought that it would take a 34-year-old in his first big break to be the home run hire that Dallas needed? It makes sense, though. He helped develop Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell into All-Pro secondary players, and he can do the same with Caleb Downs.
What we really want to see is how Parker will use Downs. He will likely play mostly as the nickel corner, but he's also been getting reps on special teams, blocking for punter Bryan Anger. It's already a match made in heaven, as Parker has said his rookie is as good as advertised.
It's still early in the process, but this is a fine job by Parker getting one of the best offenses rattled so the defense can grow into something scary.
Rejoice, Cowboys fans! There's a new rivalry brewing, but don't worry, it's the offense against the defense, not another team, at least not yet.
