All eyes are on the Dallas Cowboys to see how they will navigate the upcoming 2025 NFL free agency period.

After all, it's no secret that the Cowboys' 2024 offseason performance left much to be desired. Despite claiming to boast an "All In" mentality, owner/general manager Jerry Jones left fans disappointed as he opted to sign cheap veteran players rather than chasing ofter the big fish (Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley, etc.) who could've made an actual difference.

That experience was frustrating for fans, without a doubt. Fortunately, Jones & Co. won't have any excuses not to be big spenders this offseason following the league's latest announcement.

Cowboys Have Zero Excuses Following NFL Salary Cap News

On Wednesday, ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano reported that the 2025 salary cap "will fall in the range of $277.5 million to $281.5 million" — an increase of at least $22.1 million and as much as $26.1 million.

While the final number has yet to be confirmed, the major increase is huge news for the cash-strapped Cowboys.

According to Spotrac, Dallas was projected to be about $2.3 million over next season salary's cap. While that amount is unfavorable on its own, it looks even worse when key players like Zack Martin, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Rico Dowdle are slated to become free agents next month.

Taking the projected numbers into account, the Cowboys should have anywhere from $19.8 million to $23.5 million to spend. That's plenty of money to help America's Team upgrade the roster after missing the playoffs last season with an abysmal 7-10 record.

While the additional cap space will be helpful to sign free agents, it can also aid the Cowboys in their quest to keep star players in town. It's no secret that defensive playmaker Micah Parsons is looking for a massive pay raise as he heads into a contract year, meaning the extra cash could lead to an extension being signed sooner than expected.

The NFL's best teams will do their best to weaponize the increased cap and the Cowboys shouldn't be any different. It's been nearly 30 years since Dallas last experienced Super Bowl glory, meaning there's no better time than now for Jones to finally put his money where his mouth is.

For now, the Cowboys will head into the upcoming free agency period in a five-way tie for the 17th-best Super Bowl 60 odds (+6500) on DraftKings Sportsbook.
