It's been a busy NFL offseason for Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer, who's building his first-ever coaching staff. The 51-year-old bench boss has already hired various intriguing names to his staff, ranging from promising offensive coordinator Klayton Adams to defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, who boasts head coaching experience.

Schottenheimer's staff will only become fuller as the offseason progresses. On Monday, the latest addition to the coaching room was revealed.

Cowboys News: Dallas Hires Assistant WR Coach Tiquan Underwood

The Cowboys have hired former NFL wideout Tiquan Underwood as assistant receivers coach, per league insider Albert Breer. The 37-year-old coach previously held the same role with the New England Patriots last season and, according to Breer, "had interest from Florida State."

Underwood previously spent parts of five NFL seasons playing for the Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The former Rutgers receiver even played three years in the Canadian Football League before retiring from the sport, leading to his joining Lafayette as a WR coach ahead of the 2018 campaign.

The Miami Dolphins hired Underwood as an offensive quality control coach in 2019. His Sunshine State stint only lasted one year, though, leading to his coaching WRs at Rutgers (2020-21) before joining Pittsburgh's staff (2022-23) in a similar capacity.

Hopefully, Underwood's experience can have a positive impact on the Cowboys' WR room. Outside of CeeDee Lamb and Jalen Tolbert, Dallas' wideouts left plenty to be desired in 2024, proven by the team's 69.4 receiving grade on Pro Football Focus — the seventh-worst in the NFL.

Cowboys fans won't have to wait too long to see Schottenheimer's expanding staff in action. Newly hired NFL coaches are eligible to hold their first offseason workouts on Monday, Apr. 7.
