Cowboys Ignore Fans' Favorite Prospect in Latest First-Round Mock Draft
The Dallas Cowboys are 5-7 on the season as we enter Week 14. This team has won two straight games and has a clash against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football.
They have some hope they can make a run over the next five games but the outlook on the 2025 offseason has begun.
The Athletic's Dane Brugler released his mock draft of the season, and he projected the Cowboys' passing on a fan-favorite prospect.
Cowboys News: Cowboys Projected to Take a WR in Mock Draft
Brugler had the Cowboys selecting Missouri WR Luther Burden III with the 13th overall pick. That is a smart move because Dallas needs to add another quality playmaker alongside CeeDee Lamb.
While you could see the logic behind it, the Cowboys didn't take Boise State phenom running back Ashton Jeanty. Many Dallas fans will be banging on the table for their team to take Jeanty, as he's clearly the best tailback in the country.
The Florida native is leading the nation in rushing yards (2,288) and rushing touchdowns (28) with 7.3 yards per carry. He's also gone over 200 yards five different times this season.
He would immediately transform the Cowboys' ground attack, which is ranked 31st in the NFL in rushing offense (85.8). Dallas' lack of a running game has significantly impacted the offense in 2024 and can't be the case going forward.
Jeanty added to the excitement among Dallas fans when he said he would love to get drafted by the Cowboys. He said, "My family is all in Texas. Family being there, all the connections, all the relationships, I feel like that would just be the perfect city to play in."
The NFL Draft is four months away so plenty of things can change but there's a chance that Jeanty doesn't land in Dallas. And that will bother a bunch of fans.
