Of course.

Reports indicate that former Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons will miss the first month and a half of the upcoming season. It doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, as the edge rusher tore his ACL while also damaging his meniscus. But his expected return date may have Cowboys fans rolling their eyes.

The Packers have a specialized plan for guys who tear their ACL, and that plan has Cowboys fans watching closely. Packers beat reporter Matt Schneidman said on The Pat McAfee Show that Parsons will probably miss the first month and a half of the season, but it falls perfectly in line with a revenge opportunity.

The news really only leaves one question begging to be answered: When will Parsons return? If he does miss the first month and a half, he would be in line for a Week 6 return. And, of course, in Week 6 the Packers play at home against the Cowboys in primetime. Here's what Schneidman told McAfee.

“He’s probably going to return Week 6 at Lambeau, Sunday Night Football, against who? The Dallas Cowboys.”

Micah Parsons’ projected return is of course against the Cowboys

It would be one of the more dramatic matchups of the season. The two sides faced off last year, also on SNF in Week 4. Parsons made his return to Dallas for the first time, and the game ended up being an exciting 40-40 tie. The First-Team All-Pro edge rusher had a sack and three QB hits as well.

This year the game will be in Green Bay, and Parsons will have the crowd behind him. It’ll be interesting to see how fit he is in his first game back, especially in such a high-pressure atmosphere.

Upon arriving in Green Bay last year via trade, Parsons hit the ground running with 12.5 sacks and a first-team All-Pro selection. However, it all came to a screeching halt in Week 15 against the Denver Broncos, when he tore his ACL on a non-contact injury.

Without a doubt, Roger Goodell is salivating at the potential ratings for this Week 6 clash. The only thing that could take the wind out of its sails is a setback for Parsons. But given Parsons himself is preaching patience, it seems he should be on track for a safe return.

Parsons could also prove to be ahead of schedule and be activated as soon as Week 4. We’ll have to wait and see how this plays out. As of now, though, he's set to pick up football activities near the end of September, and fans can already circle a game on the calendar to look forward to. Exciting stuff, given that it's July.
