The Dallas Cowboys entered the offseason knowing that they needed to get more weapons for Dak Prescott. CeeDee Lamb is an incredible player, but the skill-position groups leave a lot to be desired behind him.
Unfortunately, Jerry Jones didn't exactly address the problem. While Javonte Williams and Jaydon Blue are nice additions, it's malpractice to come out of this process with Jonathan Mingo as your second option in the passing game.
They might have a trick up their sleeve, and a trade would make a lot of sense. They've been tied to Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens, who would instantly transform the offense. Dianna Russini of The Athletic expects trade buzz to cool down now that the draft is over, but one new projected trade gets Dallas the receiver they need without giving up too much draft capital.
Cowboys Land Steelers WR George Pickens in Projected Trade After Draft
In this projected trade, the Cowboys send a 2026 fourth and sixth-round selection in exchange for Pickens and a 2026 seventh-rounder. Since Dallas completely ignored the receiver position, much to Micah Parsons' chagrin, this gives them a chance to make up for their draft mistakes.
Pickens is only 24 years old and has a remarkable 174 catches for 2,841 yards and 12 TDs during his three-year career. He's admittedly been a bit of a headache for the Steelers' coaching staff, hence why he's potentially available, but there is no player with similar talent who can be had.
Perhaps getting to play with Prescott instead of the circus of mediocrity Pittsburgh is trotting out under center would invigorate Pickens and refocus him. He's an excellent blocker as well, so he can help the offense in a variety of ways.
Giving up picks in the fourth and sixth rounds is a small price to pay for someone like Pickens. He fits Dallas' biggest need, and could have the Cowboys back competing for a division title. At the very least, Jones needs to make the call and see if a deal like this can be made.
