Cowboys Let Trey Lance Down Again With Comments Ahead of Week 12
The Dallas Cowboys are in the midst of a disappointing and frustrating season. They have lost quarterback Dak Prescott for the rest of the season. Dallas has a 3-7 record, dropped five straight games, and has a contest against the Washington Commanders in Week 12.
Dallas handed over starting quarterback duties to Cooper Rush and hasn't moved off that approach. During his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan, owner Jerry Jones expressed that Rush will remain the starter going forward.
Cowboys News: Cooper Rush Will Continue to Be Cowboys Starter Going Forward
Jones said, "Rush gives us the best chance to win the game. That is the No. 1 thing of importance, win the game. Not evaluate."
Rush has started in two games this season, going 45-of-78 for 399 passing yards with one passing score and one interception. Despite what Jones says, the Cowboys aren't going to win many games in 2024. Trotting Rush out there won't do anything as the season is lost.
Back in 2023, Dallas sent over a 2024 fourth-round pick to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for Trey Lance. Despite him being with the Cowboys for the past two seasons, the team still doesn't feel comfortable throwing him out there.
Everyone knew that Lance needed some fine-tuning when he entered the league, and that statement still stands today. But Dallas knew that when they acquired him. The 24-year-old is set to become a free agent after the season, but with each passing week, it looks like he won't get a chance to step onto the field.
It's a weird situation going on in Dallas. Why not throw him out there and see what he can handle? The team isn't going anywhere this year so they might as well see what Lance can do on game day.
Regardless, Dallas has their own plans and it doesn't appear to include Lance, which seems like a waste of a fourth-round pick for no reason.
