Jerry Jones Openly Flirts With Rival Coach Amid McCarthy Drama
The Dallas Cowboys season is over. They own a 3-7 record and have lost five straight games. On Sunday, they have a contest against the Washington Commanders.
It's been weeks of terrible football and bad press for the team. Last week, they lost to the Houston Texans 34-10 on Monday Night Football and the stadium was literally falling apart.
Mike McCarthy's contract won't be extended after this disappointing campaign and owner Jerry Jones is speaking positively about Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury ahead of their matchup.
Cowboys News: Jerry Jones Raves About Kliff Kingsbury
When speaking to team reporters on Friday, Jones said, "I think a lot of Cliff. He's a friend. I really think a lot of him."
He commended Kingsbury's ability to work with younger quarterbacks and how creative he is as a playcaller.
Kingsbury was the Arizona Cardinals head coach from 2019-2022 before spending the 2023 season with USC. He was brought back into league circles when Dan Quinn hired him to be the OC. That move has been a home run for the Commanders, as they are sixth in the NFL in total offense (366.7) and rushing offense (148) while being fourth in scoring offense (28).
Quarterback Jayden Daniels has also flourished under Kingsbury, leading all rookies in passing yards (2,338) and second in passing touchdowns (10).
Despite Kingsbury being a hated rival of the Cowboys, Jones is still speaking highly of him. Everyone knows that Dallas will be looking for a new head coach this offseason, and the 45-year-old coordinator is someone to potentially watch.
Jones didn't hold back the compliments and that's something to pay close attention too.
The Cowboys need a new voice in that locker room and Kingsbury could be an option for them this offseason.
