Cowboys May Have Accidentally Leaked Daniel Jones' Intentions
The Dallas Cowboys 2024 season has been a complete embarrassment. They are 3-7 on the season and have lost five games in a row. There is very little hope left in the season after quarterback Dak Prescott was placed on IR with a hamstring injury.
They have handed over starting quarterback duties to Cooper Rush with Trey Lance as the backup. That hasn't yielded the results they have wanted but on Friday, a surprising QB hit the open market.
The New York Giants released Daniel Jones and the speculation immediately began around him heading over to Dallas.
Josina Anderson came out and said Dallas isn't interested in pursuing Jones but that hasn't stopped the speculation from slowing down. Especially after what the Cowboys have on their website.
Cowboys News: Daniel Jones is Listed on Cowboys Website
Shortly after his release, Jones is seen listed on Dallas' website with an official roster page. That is interesting considering Anderson's statement regarding the team's lack of interest.
Although Jones hasn't been a superstar in the NFL during his time with the Giants, he would immediately become the best QB on the active roster. Over 70 career games, Jones has completed 64% of his passes for 14,582 yards with 70 passing touchdowns and 47 interceptions. He also has compiled 2,179 rushing yards and 15 scores on the ground.
Maybe the Cowboys shouldn't be so quick to shut down this idea considering how their season has gone. They also match up on Thanksgiving against the Giants and could do the funniest thing ever.
While the odds of him landing in Dallas are slim, the Cowboys have added smoke with him being listed on their website.
Editor's update - Nov 22, 1:33 p.m. ET: The Cowboys appear to have removed Jones' page from their website. Former Cowboys writer NIck Harris notes that it's not uncommon for the website to have roster cards for rival players. Interesting to note, however, is that none of the other starting quarterbacks in the NFC East (or starting running backs or wide receivers) had pages that could be accessed even before Jones' was taken down.
