It hasn't been smooth sailing for the Dallas Cowboys in 2024. They are sitting at 3-3 as they enter the bye week. Even though they have a tough stretch of games coming out of the bye that starts with the San Francisco 49ers, the Cowboys still have confidence in their roster.

The NFL trade deadline is on Nov. 5 and that gives teams opportunities to gain value in terms of players and trade capital.

We saw some big-time moves go down this week, with the New York Jets trading for Davante Adams and Amari Cooper going to the Buffalo Bills.

Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports released an article with other moves that need to happen around the league. In that piece, he has the Dallas Cowboys trading away quarterback Trey Lance.

In the proposed deal, the Cowboys sent Lance to the Miami Dolphins for a conditional 2025 fifth-round pick.

"Tua Tagovailoa is apparently on track to return to the field this season, despite some medical experts suggesting his concussion history should prompt retirement consideration. Since when has Miami succeeded at putting all its eggs in the Tua basket, however? Lance remains a project, but he flashed his first-round athleticism under Mike McDaniel in San Francisco, and Dallas has kept him strapped to the bench. He'd make for a low-risk, high-upside rental as added Tagovailoa insurance."

Back in 2023, the Cowboys acquired Lance from the San Francisco 49ers for a 2024 fourth-round pick. Although he had the physical attributes teams look for, Lance has never been able to put it together.

During the 2024 preseason, Lance went 73 of 113 for 662 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also logged 168 rushing yards and a rushing score. The 24-year-old still doesn't look like he's ready to be an NFL quarterback. In his career, he's completed 54% of his throws for 797 passing yards, five passing touchdowns, and three picks. The Cowboys know that Dak Prescott is the quarterback of the future, but Lance isn't the QB2 for Dallas.

It would make a ton of sense to recoup some type of draft capital in return for him.
