The Dallas Cowboys are 3-3 as they head into the bye week. They just got embarrassed in Week 6, losing 47-9 to the Detroit Lions. The Cowboys don't look like the same team from a year ago and it's evident on the field.

They don't have a rushing attack and the defense isn't dominating like they have in the past. To make matters worse, owner and general manager Jerry Jones was pinching pennies this offseason. He had a chance to sign RB Derrick Henry but Jones said the team couldn't afford him.

That was a massive mistake as Henry currently leads the NFL in rushing yards (704) and rushing touchdowns (8) entering Week 7. With the trade deadline being on Nov. 5, the Cowboys still have a chance to land an impactful player and they were named as a trade destination for an All-Pro running back.

In an article written by CBS Sports Cody Benjamin, he discussed landing spots for New Orleans running back Alvin Kamara. On Thursday night, the Saints lost to the Denver Broncos 33-10. They have lost five games in a row and now sit at 2-5.

Teams around the league may begin calling New Orleans regarding Kamara's availability and the Cowboys should be among those organizations. Benjamin adds that Kamara might have to rework his deal for this to be a realistic option but it would be a home run move.

"Kamara might have to redo his deal to facilitate this, considering Cowboys owner Jerry Jones' unwillingness to pay a premium for, say, Derrick Henry in the offseason. Dallas sorely lacks a punch in the ground game, though, and Dak Prescott could use a more formidable group of secondary pass targets after CeeDee Lamb. Kamara would certainly be getting a glitzier spotlight here."

Kamara has a $18.5 million cap hit this season and $29 million in 2025. That's a lot of money but a contract restructure is always a choice. If that is something that can be handled, Kamara would bring massive star power and playmaking to the offense.

This season, he's third in the league in carries (111), tied for sixth in rushing yards (438), and tied for second in rushing touchdowns (6). In the passing game, he has 34 catches for 252 receiving yards. He's always been a dual-threat weapon throughout his career. Adding a player like Kamara to the Cowboys' offense would take pressure off everyone. Most importantly, Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb.

The season is teetering on the brink of falling apart when you look at Dallas' schedule coming out of the bye. They will play the San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans, and Washington Commanders from Weeks 8-12.

Getting someone like Kamara could help give Dallas the boost they need and help right the ship.
