Cowboys Projected to Reunite with Former Star in Free Agency
The 2024 season has been a complete disaster for the Dallas Cowboys. This team sits with a 3-5 record and lost Dak Prescott for the remainder of the 2024 season.
With each passing week, it looks like Mike McCarthy is a lame-duck head coach and there will be new people in charge next season.
Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox dropped an article talking about the Top 50 free agents in the 2025 offseason.
The Cowboys let multiple players walk this past free agency, including Tyron Smith. They drafted Tyler Guyton in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft to replace him but he has struggled in his first season. He's given up 19 total pressures with four sacks.
With Smith slated to be a free agent again in March, Knox named Dallas as a landing spot for him. This would be a reunion for both sides and it makes sense.
Although Smith doesn't look like the same anchor he was in Dallas (six penalties and five sacks allowed in 2024), he would be a better choice than Guyton. The Oklahoma product also played right tackle in college and could slide back there if Smith comes back.
The Cowboys have shown a willingness to bring back former players. They did it this past offseason when they re-signed Ezekiel Elliott and could do the same with Smith.
Giving Smith a one-year, incentive-based deal seems like the smart approach and could be an option for the Cowboys this season.
He spent 13 years in Dallas and may be open to a reunion.
