Cowboys Reveal Plan for Ezekiel Elliott After Surprise Benching
This has been a disaster of a season for the Dallas Cowboys in 2024. They are 3-5 after nine weeks and have lost three games in a row.
Last Sunday, the Cowboys fell 27-21 to the Atlanta Falcons but lost more than the game. Dak Prescott left the contest with a hamstring injury and CeeDee Lamb sprained his AC joint.
Meanwhile, they punished running back Ezekiel Elliott for the game and he wasn't active. He faced disciplinary action after reportedly being late to multiple team meetings. That news caught many people by surprise but on Tuesday owner Jerry Jones discussed the Cowboys 'plan for Elliott against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Cowboys News: There’s a Good Chance That Ezekiel Elliott Returns to the Field in Week 10
Jones had his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan and revealed there's a "good chance" that Elliott will be back on the field against the Eagles.
It looks like the Cowboys believe the one-game absence for Elliott was enough but regardless the arrow is pointing down for Dallas. Even when the Ohio State product was on the field, he wasn't effective.
He has 48 carries for 149 yards, two touchdowns, and 3.1 yards per carry this season. Dallas is 31st in the NFL in rushing offense (82) and Elliott isn't going to change that. The 29-year-old looks washed and slow on the field.
Dallas brought him back, hoping to catch lightning in the bottle, but that wasn't the case. Instead, they got an ineffective running back who is causing problems behind the scenes.
It doesn't matter if Elliott is back on the field on Sunday, he likely won't be productive. He hasn't recorded more than 40 yards in any game this year.
