Each NFL offseason fosters its fair share of off-field drama, and the Dallas Cowboys know that feeling all too well. America's Team has been involved in various summertime contract disputes in recent years, most recently with those concerning quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb last year.

Another offseason is here, and the Cowboys are dealing with more contract drama, this time involving star pass rusher Micah Parsons. Having said that, Dallas isn't the only NFC East franchise that's struggling to re-sign a top player this summer.

In fact, one of the Cowboys' rivals just took one step closer to losing a star playmaker because of an ongoing contract dispute.

Cowboys News: WR Terry McLaurin Is 'Frustrated' With Commanders Amid Contract Dispute

On Thursday, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that star Washington Commanders wideout Terry McLaurin "has made it clear to the team that he’s frustrated with the lack of progress on a long-term deal."

"McLaurin unexpectedly left voluntary workouts after initially attending, and it remains to be seen whether he’ll report for mandatory minicamp," Schultz wrote. "McLaurin is entering the final year of his contract. Talks have been minimal."

It's safe to say the Commanders would be in a terrible spot if they fumble their relationship with McLaurin.

Known as "Scary Terry," the two-time Pro Bowl playmaker has been one of the NFL's top receivers ever since he was drafted 76th overall in 2019. He's since gone on to rack up 460 catches for 6,379 receiving yards and 38 touchdowns in 97 games, which includes hitting the 1,000-yard mark in each of the last five seasons.

The Commanders signed McLaurin to a three-year, $68.3 million extension in 2022, which paid an annual average salary of $22.7 million. Although that's a fairly significant chunk of change, he's likely looking for a considerable pay raise after posting an 82-1,096-13 stat line with the Commanders.

If the ongoing contract dispute is the beginning of the end of McLaurin's time in the NFC East, Cowboys fans certainly won't bat an eye. The Indianapolis, IN native has been a constant thorn in Dallas' side since joining the NFC East, having tallied 50 catches for 643 yards and five TDs in 11 meetings with America's Team.

With how quickly the NFL offseason is flying by, the Commanders can't afford to waste any more time locking McLaurin down. In the meantime, the Cowboys and their fans won't have any issues with watching Washington's offense implode from the sidelines.
