The NFL regular season is just three weeks away, and the pressure is increasing with each passing day. The Dallas Cowboys have their own contract drama to resolve with Micah Parsons, but their rival is also dealing with some drama at camp.

Washington Commanders WR Terry McLaurin is looking for a new deal and hasn't stepped on the practice field this summer. While he's still in the same system, nothing compares to getting on the field and getting actual reps. And Commanders' offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury expressed that on-field reps need to take place soon.

Kliff Kingsbury Wants Terry McLaurin Out on Field

Kingsbury said, "I think we're kind of at that point to where we need to start getting those guys, when they're available, out there and jelling to see where we are as an offense."

This is music to the ears for Cowboy fans. Washington added Deebo Samuel via trade this offseason, and Kingsbury understates that this isn't Madden. You can't plug in your best players and expect them to hit the ground running. Football is a game of precision, chemistry, and practice.

Without consistent reps throughout the offseason, there's a chance players can start the season off rusty. And considering McLaurin is coming off an 82-1,096-13 statline in 2024, his presence in the Commanders' passing attack is huge. Especially as Jayden Daniels enters his sophomore season in the league.

Building that continuity is what separates teams during the season, and the Commanders have some major problems in that area.

Regardless of what's happening there, this is what Cowboys fans want to hear. The Commanders went 12-5 last season, en route to an NFC Championship Game appearance. Dallas is looking to change that this season, and problems between McLaurin and Washington are one way that makes it easier.

Washington still has three weeks before the season starts, but with each day that goes by and McLaurin isn't on the field creates more problems for that team.

Receivers DK Metcalf and Garrett Wilson both landed big-time extensions this offseason, averaging around $32-$33 million per year. Washington has the template needed to hammer out a deal, but they reportedly won't offer $30 million a year.

That's a terrible message, especially for a WR that has five straight 1,000-yard campaigns under his belt. Nonetheless, this is an interesting storyline to watch leading up to the start of the 2025 season.
