Cowboys Snag Super Bowl Champion RB in Shocking Projected Trade
The Dallas Cowboys have dealt with a lot of different things thus far into the season. As they head into a Week 9 contest against the Atlanta Falcons, the Cowboys are sitting at 3-4.
There are a lot of holes along the roster but the biggest one is at running back. The Cowboys are last in the NFL in rushing offense (74.1) and rushing touchdowns (3). This group is also averaging just 3.4 yards per carry.
The combination of Ezekiel Elliott and Rico Dowdle isn't working. The Cowboys need more production from the backfield and have a couple of days until the Nov. 5 trade deadline. In a projected trade offer, Dallas acquired running back Clyde Edwards-Helarie.
In this projected deal, Dallas is only giving up a seventh-round pick for a running back who has Super Bowl experience.
Edwards-Helarie is a dual-threat playmaker who would give the Cowboys more juice in the backfield. This season, the LSU product was placed on the NFI list as he was dealing with PTSD. After missing a couple of weeks, he is back in the fold and would elevate Dallas' backfield.
In his career, the 25-year-old has 1,845 rushing yards, 765 receiving yards, and 19 total touchdowns. He would bring a different dynamic to the backfield but wouldn't cost much to land. Dallas needs more production from the backfield, and getting a two-time Super Bowl champion could go a long way.
The Elliott reunion hasn't worked out the way Dallas envisioned. They also rarely used Dalvin Cook in 2024, showcasing the amount of faith they have in him. It's time to make a move and this is an ideal option.
