The Dallas Cowboys' issues with wide receiver depth are well-documented, and it's been a large topic of conversation considering the organization's massively disappointing 2024 campaign.

CeeDee Lamb is obviously a star and a perfect partner for Dak Prescott. However, the depth chart has been underwhelming at best. Dallas seemed to solve that problem by trading for former Pittsburgh Steelers standout George Pickens, yet there are understandable questions about how that deal could ultimately turn out.

Among the many retreads the Cowboys have tried to make work, one recent player who couldn't make it has signed a new deal that could signal the end of his NFL career.

Former Cowboys WR Seth Williams Signs With UFL to Salvage Football Career

In an official release issued by the UFL's communications department on social media, former Cowboys wideout Seth Williams signed with the DC Defenders.

Despite not having appeared in an NFL game since 2021 with the Denver Broncos, Williams was on Dallas' practice squad until March. He was let go, and now he's trying to revive his dwindling career in a new league. Unfortunately for him, he never earned the trust of the coaching staff that'd keep him on a 53-man roster.

Originally a sixth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Broncos, Williams bounced around various practice squads prior to this new opportunity. Still just 25 years old, there could be a bright future for him in an environment better suited toward his skill set. He has talent, but perhaps it's not at the level that NFL teams are looking for.

On the Cowboys' end, there isn't much love lost here. The focus is on finding Lamb a suitable Robin to his Batman, and Pickens serves that purpose. Regardless, Williams might become one of the more talented receivers in the UFL should things work out.

We'll see, but both Dallas fans and Defenders fans are happy about this transaction.
