The NFL offseason features a plethora of changes as soon as it begins, and it isn't unusual for players to follow former coaches to new teams. Familiarity is a big part of success in football, especially when a coach enters a new environment knowing he has a trustworthy player he can rely on and vice versa.
Dallas Cowboys fans know what this experience feels like. It was only last season when the fanbase watched a handful of players (and coaches) leave the Lone Star to follow former defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as he was hired as the Washington Commanders head coach.
Even though it's a new offseason, former Cowboys are still trying to reunite with Quinn. Unfortunately, the latest player's attempt to join the Commanders didn't go as planned.
Cowboys News: WR Michael Gallup Set to Visit Seahawks After Failed Commanders Workout
Former Cowboys wideout Michael Gallup recently revealed that he's attempting an NFL comeback. After visiting with the Commanders last Tuesday, NFL insider Aaron Wilson is reporting that the former 2018 third-rounder is now slated to meet with the Seattle Seahawks.

Reading between the lines, Gallup's upcoming Seahawks visit likely signals that his attempted reunion with Quinn was a bust. If the Commanders were impressed by the 29-year-old WR, chances are they likely would've signed him to a contract once free agency began.
It's been over a year since Gallup last played in a meaningful football game. The Cowboys released the former Colorado State product last offseason due to injuries causing his performance to decline, resulting in his signing a one-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders. He never made it to Raiders training camp, though, opting to retire before the preseason action even began.
Gallup has since had plenty of time to debate his decision, leading to his comeback attempt. Although his fans would love nothing more than to see him succeed, the Atlanta, GA native is facing an uphill battle as he's yet to look like his pre-injury form ever since tearing his ACL during the 2023 campaign.
Wherever he lands, Gallup's new team will add a veteran receiver with 86 games of regular-season experience under his belt. He's caught 266 of his 479 career targets (55.5%) converting those opportunities into 3,744 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns. Although he's no longer a WR2-caliber player, he could still be the third or fourth option in the right offense (assuming he stays healthy).
The NFL offseason is only getting started, meaning there's plenty of time for Gallup to find a new team before training camp begins. Whether or not he can still be an impactful player as his age-30 season approaches remains to be seen.
