The NFL is set to kick into a different gear with free agency opening up. The legal tampering period starts on Monday at 11 a.m. CST, and teams around the league can start negotiating with free agents.
The Cowboys will head into free agency with $54 million, so they have the funds to make some quality additions if they decide to go down that route.
While teams are preparing for free agency, one former Cowboy is coming out of retirement. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Dallas WR Michael Gallup is attempting to make a comeback, per his agent, Kevin Robinson.
The Las Vegas Raiders ended up letting him go on the reserve/retired list on Friday for that reason.

Michael Gallup is Attempting an NFL Comeback
Gallup came into the league as a third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent six seasons with the Cowboys (2018-2023), where he gave them a solid playmaker. Over 86 career games, Gallup had 266 receptions (479 targets) for 3,744 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns.
Last April, Gallup signed with the Raiders, but that didn't last long. Although he never publicly addressed the reason for his retirement, Gallup is looking to make a return to the gridiron.
Gallup looked like a promising weapon before tearing his ACL during the 2021 season. Prior to going down with that injury, the Colorado State product recorded 800-plus yards in two of his first three seasons. After the injury, he didn't look like the same type of player.
With free agency about to start, Gallup is looking to make a comeback in the NFL. Teams are always looking for more help at WR, and the veteran thinks he can be an asset for a team going forward. Whether that will be with the Cowboys or the Raiders remains to be seen.
