Former Cowboys Draft Bust Kicked to Curb by New Team in Week 17
By Cem Yolbulan
When the Dallas Cowboys drafted talented cornerback Kelvin Joseph with the 44th-overall pick in the second round, it was considered one of the steals of the early rounds. Joseph was a physical, athletic player with a knack for making plays and creating turnovers, and the Cowboys desperately needed more secondary depth.
The only cause of concern about Joseph was off-the-field issues. He had transferred from LSU to Kentucky after he was suspended for the Tigers' bowl game due to a violation of team rules. He had to sit out the entire 2019 season as a result, limiting his playing experience.
Whether this played a part in his struggles in the NFL is unclear but Joseph has failed to establish himself as a pro. In his first two years as a Cowboys, he played the majority of his snaps on special teams. Defensively, he was used sparingly, as a corner, safety, and in the slot.
After two years in Dallas, Joseph was traded to the Dolphins in exchange for Noah Igbinoghene, who didn't figure much in the rotation, either. Since then, Joseph has been bouncing around in the NFL, spending the preseason and training camp with the Chiefs.
Most recently, he was on the Vikings practice squad but on Thursday, he was released.

Joseph is now available to sign with a new team before the playoffs. In all likelihood, Joseph will continue to get a look on practice squads with the hopes of getting a chance to prove himself on the active roster. Cowboys fans will be watching where one of their biggest draft misses in recent years end up in his career.
