As we approach Week 6 of the NFL season, teams around the league continue making roster moves to address injuries and underperformance. This includes new additions to the practice squad, elevations to the active roster, and cuts.

One of the recent cuts from the New England Patriots is a familiar face for Cowboys fans. According to Patriots insider Mike Reiss, the team released defensive tackle Trysten Hill after the defensive tackle appeared in two games for the team this season.

NFL News: Patriots Release DT Trysten Hill

Hill's name will ring a bell for most Cowboys fans. In the 2019 NFL Draft, the Cowboys selected Hill in the second round and the defensive tackle out of UCF quickly became one of the most disappointing draft picks in recent years.

As a rookie, Hill was inactive for most of the season and only appeared in seven games as a backup to Maliek Collins. After he left in the 2020 offseason, Hill became the starter. In Week 5, he tore his ACL and missed the rest of the season. Through five games of the season, he was one of the lowest-ranked defenders on PFF, receiving a 33.8 grade.

Even though he recovered from the ACL tear and came back the next season, he failed to re-establish his career. He received a suspension for punching former Raiders guard John Simpson in an altercation and eventually lost his role to rookie Osa Odighizuwa.

Hill spent some time with the Cardinals, appearing in six games before joining the Patriots for the last two years. In New England, he appeared in three games and played 18 defensive snaps in two seasons. Now, he will look to find a new NFL home to get his career back on track but he will likely have to do that on a practice squad until he proves otherwise.
