While the Dallas Cowboys are busy dealing with the fallout of the NFL Draft and scouring the landscape for valuable undrafted free agents who could make an impact throughout the summer.

Trade rumors are running rampant, and the Cowboys still have some holes they need to address. Meanwhile, organizations throughout the league are making tough decisions to cut certain players, creating room to evaluate more young guys.

One such player who was just let go has ties to the Cowboys, as a veteran quarterback just revealed he's been released.

Former Cowboys QB Ben DiNucci Released by Saints

In a social media post on his X account, former Cowboys Ben DiNucci revealed that he's been released by the New Orleans Saints. "The NFL is a tough business. Always has been and always will be," DiNucci wrote. "Got released by the Saints this morning. Control what I can control and go back to work."

Originally a seventh-round pick by Dallas in 2020, DiNucci started one game while suiting up for three in his rookie campaign but has spent time bouncing around teams and practice squads since.

DiNucci has completed 23 of 43 attempts for 219 yards and no TDs or interceptions during his NFL career. He's a journeyman for a reason, yet his experience in a variety of systems could make him a valuable addition to someone's locker room.

Still just 28 years old, DiNucci could develop into a quality backup if he finds the right coaching staff. He'll never be a starter and is probably best suited to be a third-string QB. However, that's still an important role on a team, given all the injuries we see in the NFL.

Prior to being with the Saints, DiNucci had stints with the Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos. He also had a stint in the XFL with the Seattle Dragons (2023). He'll now be searching for his fifth NFL team, and hopefully, he'll catch on somewhere for training camp this summer.

It's back to the drawing board for DiNucci, though he should find another opportunity sooner than later.
