It was a brutal season for the Dallas Cowboys in 2025, and one to throw away on the defensive side. The linebacking room underwent a complete overhaul, and one of the names Cowboys fans want to instantly forget about is Kenneth Murray.
Per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the New York Giants are giving Murray a workout, and other teams have shown interest, but he is still unsigned.
Even though Murray racked up 81 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble, the production didn't quite match the ugliness we saw too many times. The whole defense struggled, but Murray stood out in some embarrassing moments that had Cowboys fans calling for him to be replaced.

We're not just saying this either. His Pro Football Focus grade of 38.9 reflects that. If you wanted to go even deeper, that ranked 86th of 88 linebackers last season.
His coverage grade ranked about the same at 48.3, second-to-last among LBs. His run defense was the last straw for fans, as he ranked 31.9, which was 88th. A lot of times, PFF isn't designed to tell the story, but the inconsistencies are just too obvious.
Murray can be a serviceable linebacker if he's patient reading the gaps, but there were times when he went too fast. He would take incorrect gaps, and it allowed opposing running backs to have field days. This run by C.J. Ham, the Vikings fullback, walked in for maybe the easiest TD of his career when Murray went the wrong way.
Now, the Giants are allowing him to work out. It doesn't mean anything for now, but even if he were to get a shot with the Giants, he would be a pure rotational piece. With Arvell Reese, Tremaine Edmunds and Brian Burns as the linebackers, it would take a lot for Murray to see consistent playing time. He may even be third on the depth chart to start.
The Cowboys feel like they still want to take a splash at someone at LB. Veteran LB Bobby Wagner is still up for grabs, and his price range should be extremely reasonable for Jerry Jones, considering the lack of interest and his age.
A full season of DeMarvion Overshown may be the difference in what fans need to see. He's already projected to be the breakout player the Cowboys need to get things back in order. His speed is top-notch compared to the rest of his peers, and he proclaims he can be the best at his position one day.
Cowboys fans were already saying good riddance to Murray, but getting a workout with their NFC East rival only makes things funnier.
