Injured Cowboy Now Suspended by NFL in Shocking Twist
Just when you think the Cowboys season can't get worse, it just does. The Cowboys have dropped two games in a row and sit with a 3-4 record.
In Week 8, they fell to the San Francisco 49ers 30-24. They now have the Atlanta Falcons on the slate next as they look to get back to .500.
The Cowboys have a lot of work to do to right this ship but they continued to get bad news. On Monday, the NFL announced that defensive end Sam Williams is suspended for three games without pay for violating the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy.
Cowboys News: Sam Williams Was Suspended by NFL on Monday
Jon Machota of The Athletic revealed that Williams' suspension went into effect before Week 8. The Ole Miss product is eligible for reinstatement on November 11, which is after Week 10.
Williams suffered a torn ACL and MCL in training camp and is out for the 2024 season. He was still in the building rehabbing and likely attending team meetings. Now that he's been suspended, he won't be able to be around his teammates and get into the building.
Although he wasn't playing, this is another negative event for the Cowboys in 2024. Dallas' last victory came on Oct. 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Since then, it has only been bad press for the team and it continued with this development.
In his NFL career, Williams has tallied 30 solo tackles and 8.5 sacks. Despite these stats, he won't be able to step on the field until 2025. Who knows what the Cowboys will look like then, but for right now, Williams must be away from the team.
