Even when they were on a bye week, the Dallas Cowboys found a way to dominate the airwaves this week. This time it was ESPN's article about the facility tours that caused a ruckus within the organization.

Kalyn Kahler talked to current and former Cowboys players about the fan tours the organization holds. Many of them complained about them being a major distraction and annoyance, a few likening it to "a zoo".

It was obviously only a matter of time before Jerry Jones responded to the complaints. In his appearance on 105.3 The Fan, the Cowboys owner said he was happy to see the story because of the publicity, per The Athletic's Jon Machota.

Cowboys News: Jerry Jones' Response to ESPN Article Completely Misses the Point

Jones added that it's ridiculous to argue that the tours have anything to do with player performance.

Even if we assume that Jones is right, this statement is the epitome of everything that is wrong with this organization. There are widespread complaints from your employees about organizational culture and Jones, as a leader, completely dismisses them. Instead, he focuses on the financial aspect of it all, saying he is happy that tours' popularity will rise with the publicity.

That has been the approach of the Cowboys management during the Jerry Jones era: making money over everything else. Listening to players and the coaching staff takes a backseat if it means the Jones family makes more money.

Ownership is the biggest competitive advantage in professional sports. It is very difficult to find sustainable success when you are a poorly run team. The Dallas Cowboys have been the case in point.
