Jerry Jones Makes First Public Comments on CeeDee Lamb's Second-Half Absence
The Dallas Cowboys may have come away with a huge win in Thursday's Thanksgiving Day showdown with the New York Giants, but it wasn't all good. One starter has already revealed they suffered a significant injury, and the biggest unanswered storyline as the game ended was what was going on with CeeDee Lamb.
Lamb was on the sideline for just about the entire second half after appearing to get banged up. But the strange thing was that the team didn't announce any injury for Lamb — something teams are typically pretty quick to do when they take a starter, let alone a superstar, out of the game.
Jerry Jones spoke to reporters after the game, and he gave us the first comments on Lamb. Unfortunately, fans won't love what he had to say.
The franchise's second highest paid player, making $34 million per year, was on the sideline during some of the most important moments of the game. And Jones, who is probably too involved in the day-to-day of the Cowboys' football operations most of the time, has this cop-out of an answer? At that point, why even bother talking to the press after the game? This was obviously going to be one of their first questions, and not having already received an update on the situation is pretty shocking.
Of course, if we want to put our tin foil hats on for a moment, another possibility is that Jones had already received an update, and he didn't like what the update was. We can only speculate about what kind of situations would lead to that, but it seems like both a significant injury and, maybe worse, Lamb having not actually been injured, are answers he might want to keep under wraps until the team discusses how to address the issue further.
But on the surface, it looks like Jones really just wanted to take a postgame victory lap with the press, only having answers to easy questions after a high-profile win.
