The Dallas Cowboys fans haven't been thrilled with the organization for the past couple of months. This team failed to make the playoffs and finished the 2024 season with a 7-10.

They had multiple conversations with Mike McCarthy but ultimately parted ways. The Cowboys then hired Brian Schottenheimer as the 10th head coach in team history. His opening press conference went down on Monday and Jerry Jones made some interesting comments.

Jones also took time during this presser to acknowledge that other coaches reached out to Dallas regarding their vacancy. He added those coaches have an interest in the Cowboys because they believe Dallas is close to winning a title.

Cowboys News: Jerry Jones Reveals Other Coaches Reached Out to Dallas

Jones didn't name the coaches who reached out to Dallas but this is the latest example of the 82-year-old owner boasting about his team.

The Cowboys aren't a team that is close to winning a Super Bowl in reality. This team has multiple holes along the roster, including WR, OL, and RB, to name a few.

The Cowboys haven't made the NFC Championship Game since 1996. Every other team in the NFC and made the conference championship at least once before the Cowboys have been back. To think this team is a Super Bowl contender isn't the truth.

These candidates could have just told Jones what he wanted to hear, and he's believing it. Of course, saying that about one of the most popular teams in the league is a way to get on Jones' good side.

The Cowboys only held in-person interviews with Robert Saleh and Leslie Frazier. They also had a virtual interview with Kellen Moore but decided to go with Schottenheimer. There were rumblings about Deion Sanders and Jason Witten, but nothing evolved. This will be Schottenheimer's team in 2025, and Jones will be in the background calling the shots.

The longtime owner still has this illusion that the Cowboys are this Super Bowl contender but that's not the reality of the situation. And naming Schottenheimer the head coach highlights that Jones still wants to have a ton of influence on the team's decisions.
