Predictably, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has found a way to become involved in the league's Taylor Swift story with his weekly radio spot. The Atheltic's Jon Machota reported Jones' comments on whether or not the star might attend the Cowboys' scheduled Thanksgiving game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Never failing to take an opportunity to make things about himself or grab potential headlines.

""We would have an elaborate seat for her if she should attend the game. There’s nobody a bigger fan of Taylor Swift than I am. I can’t get enough Taylor Swift.""
Jerry Jones

You can count Jones naming himself a Swiftie as headlines Cowboys fans never knew they simply didn't need in their lives. This is in no way meant to disrespect the star or a dedicated fandom. Rather, it is pointing out the continued hyperbolic statements of an owner who is increasingly losing touch with his fan base and roster. In fairness to Jones, this was a setup question that was asked. However, a basic response might be welcoming the star while focusing the conversation on the end for the Cowboys to focus on the next game, and not a tough task down the road.

Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Continues to Demand all the Wrong Headlines in 2025 Season

Jones is always concerned with the wrong things, focused on making headlines over building a Super Bowl roster. We've seen this consistently throughout the history of the organization, dating all the way back to head coach Jimmie Johnson, to the present day with Micah Parsons. Petty feuds and headlines have always been more important than winning, and there is zero reason to believe that is changing now.

Even something as simple as commenting about Swift's potential appearance at a game over a month from now points this out. It isn't the first time Jones has commented on Swift's impact on the league. Pointing out the new fandom the star has created and the potential boost in ratings. Not a bad comment, but one that could've been left alone with Jones not needing to revisit his fandom in what has been a frustrating season.

Your team is 1-2-1 despite an incredible start from your offense, namely your star quarterback, Dak Prescott, who is playing the best ball of his career. Still, the owner prefers to generate headlines over focusing on fixing the defensive woes or looking for additional moves to be made to support a surprisingly fun roster.

Instead, Jones prefers to take shots at former players and talk about his fandom. It speaks to the underlying problem with the organization. Poor leadership is holding back a roster that has been consistently on the fringes of serious contention for the last decade.

Perhaps if Jones could stop seeking validation and instead focus on going to work to improve the roster, Dallas would have a real chance of becoming a surprise contender. Instead, the owner is proving he will continue to make headlines for all the wrong reasons.
