As the Dallas Cowboys' offseason experience continues, so does the ongoing Micah Parsons contract drama.
The Cowboys' superstar pass rusher is looking to become one of the NFL's highest-paid players at his position as he heads into the final year of his rookie contract. Even though Parsons has previously said money isn't the most important thing to him, all signs point to the ex-Penn State star making at least $40 million annually on his next deal.
As the Cowboys continue to find a way to lock down their stud defender, Parsons recently made it clear that a Dallas extension isn't the only contract on his mind.
Micah Parsons Eyes Big Podcast Contract Amid Cowboys Extension Drama
On Friday, Front Office Sports' Ryan Glasspiegel and Michal McCarthy reported that Pro Football Hall of Fame tight end and NFL analyst Shannon Sharpe "has received multiple offers" regarding a new media deal that "would exceed $100 million."
Not one to shy away from the media, it didn't take Parsons long to hop on the internet to weigh in on Sharpe's contract rumors.
"'Stop the podcast Micah.' Yea, ite..." Parsons posted, likely referring to the fact that some Cowboys fans have begged him to focus less on his podcast — The Edge — and more on the team's on-field performance.

Each passing year sees more and more athletes switching over to media roles once their playing days are over. It can be hard for players to step away from a sport they spent the majority of their life around, and starting a podcast or becoming a TV analyst is the next best way to satisfy that hunger.
Those thoughts usually don't enter a player's mind until they're nearing the end of their career, though. That's why some Cowboys fans might not be thrilled that Parsons might be focusing on a mega-media deal due to his only being 25 years old and having just four NFL seasons under his belt.
Parsons has the personality to become a successful media figure one day, but it might be best for him to focus on getting a new Cowboys contract for now. He's more than deserving of being one of the league's highest-paid disruptors after racking up 52.5 sacks, 172 solo tackles, nine forced fumbles, four Pro Bowl appearances, and two All-Pro first-team nods since being drafted 12th overall in 2021.
As much as Cowboys fans want to see Parsons locked down, an extension might not get announced anytime soon. Owner/general manager Jerry Jones announced earlier this month that he doesn't see any urgency in hammering out a deal this early in the offseason.
"I'm kind of being a little defensive here, but the idea that the only success is getting a contract done at an early time is incorrect," Jones said at the league's annual meetings. "I'd rather pay more and get it right than pay less and screw it up."
Only time will tell when the Cowboys and Parsons will agree on a number that finally lets them put pen to paper. Hopefully, it happens soon enough to prevent the situation from being a discussion once training camp begins in July.
