Micah Parsons Begins First Post-Bye Practice on Disappointing Note
The Dallas Cowboys are 3-3 and head into a primetime battle on Sunday Night Football against the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers are sitting at 3-4, making this contest that more important for the NFC playoff race.
The Cowboys have struggled against the 49ers lately, dropping three straight games to San Francisco. Dallas needs a win to get some positive momentum back into the building but they didn't get some good news regarding EDGE Micah Parsons on Wednesday.
Cowboys News: Micah Parsons Still Not Practicing
Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News reported that Parsons will be in the rehab group during Wednesday's practice.
The Penn State product suffered a high-ankle sprain in the Week 4 contest against the New York Giants. The hope was that he would miss 2-4 weeks and be able to return for this game but that doesn't appear likely.
Parsons has had close to a month to rehab his high ankle sprain. Despite that timeframe, it looks like he may need more time.
The Cowboys are looking to get the 25-year-old back in the fold, as they have been hammered with injuries along the defensive front. DeMarcus Lawrence (foot) and Marshawn Kneeland (knee) are also sidelined for the foreseeable future.
Parsons' presence is needed out there. He has 41.5 career sacks and his ability to wreak havoc in the backfield is missed. The Cowboys know they need to get back into the win column and doing that on Sunday night against an NFC foe would do wonders.
The way things look right now, they'll have to do so without Parsons and that's a tough blow.
