The Dallas Cowboys are taking part in summer break before coming back next month for training camp.

While the moves Dallas made this offseason added some excitement to the fanbase, one of their biggest storylines is around the extension for Micah Parsons.

He's looking to become the highest-paid defensive player in the league and got some support from Cleveland Browns edge Myles Garrett.

Garrett was seen throwing out the first pitch at the Texas Rangers game on Father's Day and spoke to some reporters after. He was asked about what Parsons deserves from Dallas and didn't hold back.

Garrett said, "I think he deserves whatever he’s earned. Once I got the chance to train with him. I’ve seen his work ethic. I’ve seen how he attacks. The weights. Running. He’s 100% committed to his craft and getting better every day. He has that level of dedication to the game. He should get every penny he’s owed.”

Myles Garrett Publicly Backs Micah Parsons

That's a big statement, especially since Garrett got a four-year, $160 million extension himself. That contract features $123 million guaranteed. With Garrett making $40 million a year, of course, Parsons is going to look to top that.

That's the nature of the league. Players always look to get more than the previous to continue raising the bar. Nonetheless, Parsons is worth whatever deal he gets from Dallas.

The Penn State product is one of the biggest game wreckers in the league. In 63 career games, he has 256 total tackles, 63 TFLs, 112 QB hits, and nine forced fumbles. Since 2017, Parsons is fifth in the league in sacks (52.5).

He's only 26 years old and is in the prime of his career. The Cowboys will need to back up the Brinks truck in order to pay Parsons, but he's worth it.

Parsons has the support of the fans, and he's getting it from the highest-paid defender in the NFL.
