Perhaps the biggest offseason addition for the Dallas Cowboys this year was acquiring George Pickens via a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The talented wide receiver was seen as the perfect complement to CeeDee Lamb and would help elevate the Cowboys' offense to the next level.

The biggest question about Pickens' fit in Dallas was less about his on-field production, but more about his personal, off-field issues. Previously, questions have been raised about his maturity and how that impacts team chemistry.

While Cowboys fans have yet to see this impact the team, the mercurial wide receiver was recently involved in his first controversy since joining Dallas.

Per reports from Steelers insiders, Pickens bailed on his youth camp commitment in Pittsburgh, angering his former fanbase.

George Pickens Angers Steelers Fans With Latest Controversy

The youth camp was organized by TruEdge Sports and was supposed to take place on Saturday, June 28. On Tuesday, the company announced that the former Steelers WR had backed out of his promise despite confirming it after his trade to the Cowboys.

"Unfortunately, as of last week, TruEdge was notified be George’s team that he has decided to walk back on his word and is no longer interested in attending the camp. Let us be very clear: we are deeply frustrated by this decision and the position it has placed all of us in."

Fortunately, Pickens' former teammate Pat Freiermuth stepped in and will participate in the sold-out camp.

If Pickens stays out of controversy in Dallas and delivers on the field, Cowboys fans will not mind this small slip-up. At the end of the day, this is more about his relationship with his former team and community. However, if this carries into his Cowboys tenure and becomes a sign of what is to come in Dallas, then the organization may have a problem on its hands, regardless of how talented Pickens is.
