The Dallas Cowboys 2024 season is in the pits. They are 3-6, losers of four games in a row. It won't improve either, as they officially placed quarterback Dak Prescott on injured reserve.

No matter what Jerry Jones and company say, the focus has shifted to the 2025 season. Mike McCarthy is in the final year of his deal and won't be given a contract extension. That means they'll be looking for a new lead man and the rumors have been swirling.

One name that has been linked to the Cowboys is Deion Sanders. While many people would love for this to happen, that likely won't be the case according to the latest reports.

Cowboys News: Deion Sanders Likely Won’t Be Dallas’ Coach in 2025

The Athletic's Dianna Russini released an article discussing what she's hearing around the league regarding coaching circles. In this piece, she revealed that the likelihood that Sanders will become the head coach of the Cowboys is slim to none.

"Coach Prime isn’t landing at The Star. The 57-year-old University of Colorado coach and Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerback has said publicly he wants to stay in college football, despite some theories that Jerry Jones is targeting his former star. Sanders holds an 11-10 record over two seasons with the Buffaloes, and as of now, I have not spoken to a team decision-maker interested in bringing Sanders in as an NFL head coach. "

Sanders has been the head coach at the University of Colorado for the past two seasons and has been instrumental in the rebuild of that program.

Back in 1995, Jones made Sanders the highest-paid defensive player in the league with a seven-year, $35 million deal. He ended up winning a Super Bowl XXX with the Cowboys but a reunion 30 years later doesn't appear to be in the cards.
