The Dallas Cowboys made a few free-agent signings this offseason. Since Brian Schottenheimer is the new head coach, there will be battles happening all throughout camp. Competition is great for the team, and one player the Cowboys added this offseason is off to a good start.

In March, Dallas signed RB Javonte Williams to a one-year, $3 million deal, and he's the favorite to be the starter in Week 1. They also signed Miles Sanders and drafted Jaydon Blue in the fifth round pick so it will certainly be a committee approach.

Nonetheless, Williams revealed in May that he's feeling like himself again after suffering a serious ACL, LCL, and posterior lateral corner injury in 2022.

Three years later, the North Carolina product is ready to be back to himself and has been taking first-team reps all throughout OTAs and minicamp thus far.

Of course, he will need to fend off Sanders and Blue for the starter position, but the odds are he will. Sanders has logged 432 or fewer rushing yards in two straight seasons with the Carolina Panthers. Meanwhile, Williams has gone over 500 rushing yards in three of his four seasons in the league. The only year he didn't eclipse that was the year he got injured (2022). In 54 career games, Williams has 2,394 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.

Williams also has soft hands out of the backfield, reeling in 158 receptions for 966 receiving yards and five scores.

During OTA and minicamp, it was clear that Dallas plans to use their backs more in the passing game, and that's something Williams can be effective at.

Considering he was a low-cost addition at just $3 million, the Cowboys could be getting a massive steal. He's already started gaining the trust of the coaching staff, and now it's all about building on it this summer during training camp.
