The Dallas Cowboys have one more preseason game on the schedule as they’re set to play the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday, August 24. While some players might still be able to earn a spot in that game, it feels as though the majority of their 53-man roster should already be set.

Most of the remaining battles are for the bottom of the roster. That could make the final game stressful for a handful of players. Having said that, these three Cowboys can breathe easily since they have their spots locked up.

3. Matt Waletzko, OT

Selected in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Matt Waletzko came into the league with a lot of promise. His tenure with the Cowboys didn’t get off to the best start, however. During his first training camp with the team, Waletzko suffered a shoulder injury.

That set him back which was a huge blow since he was competing for the swing tackle position. He ended up playing in just three games that season.

Waletzko returned in 2023 but again was dealt a blow as another injury sent him to the IR. This time, he played in just one game. He now heads into year three with just 19 snaps on his resume (only eight of those were on offense). Still, he feels like a lock right now due to another injury.

Dallas lost Chuma Edoga earlier in the preseason, leaving them thin at tackle. Players such as Asim Richards and Josh Ball can play tackle but are each better suited at guard. That's why Waletzko should be on the 53-man roster heading into Week 1.
