3 Cowboys Bold Predictions vs 49ers in Week 5
By Tyler Maher
After demolishing the New England Patriots in Week 4, the Dallas Cowboys are gearing up for a massive Week 5 showdown against the San Francisco 49ers.
The 49ers are one of only two remaining undefeated teams in the NFL. This game will also be in San Francisco and air on Sunday Night Football, so the stakes are even higher.
Both teams have faced largely mediocre opponents thus far, so this game could go either way. Here are our bold predictions for this epic Week 5 clash between two of the best teams in the NFL.
3 Cowboys Bold Predictions Week 5
1. Brock Purdy Takes His First Career Loss
Brock Purdy has never lost a game that he's started and finished. He's undefeated as a starter in the regular season (9-0), and his only loss so far came during last year's NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles when he got hurt.
Well guess what? Purdy's going to lose a game eventually, and it's going to happen this week.
Mr. Irrelevant has been picking apart some pretty pedestrian defenses thus far, but now he's about the face the best unit in the NFL. Dallas ranks first in points allowed, second in turnovers and second in yards allowed. The secondary has been especially lethal for opposing quarterbacks, racking up 7 interceptions (second-most in NFL) while giving up the fewest passing TDs and second-fewest passing yards.
Purdy hasn't thrown an interception all season, but that probably changes this week. He's been coasting so far, but this defense is gonna give him hell and knock him back to earth.
Purdy's proving to be a good quarterback with each passing week, but he's not this good. He was taken last in the draft for a reason. Dallas will help him regress to the mean this week and hand him his first regular-season loss.
