The Dallas Cowboys have been extremely quiet throughout the offseason in terms of improving the roster. They had seen plenty of impactful players leave but none were bigger than tackle Tyron Smith and running back Tony Pollard.

They didn't do anything to improve the backfield but they kicked the tires on a potential reunion with Ezekiel Elliott.

But regardless they need to address running back in the draft. On April 25, NFL Network's Jane Slater reported two different scenarios about the Cowboys' first-round plans. One of the scenarios involves the Cowboys trading out of the 24th pick and nabbing Jonathon Brooks in the second round but that comes with some risk.

The Cowboys are sitting in the 56th spot and their arch-rival Philadelphia Eagles are picking 53rd. Slater reports that Dallas' biggest concern is that Philly snags Brooks right before them.

If that does actually happen, we'll discuss three running backs the Cowboys can draft instead.

1. Jaylen Wright, Tennessee

Jaylen Wright has good size (5'10, 210 pounds) at the position but has outstanding speed to break away from defenders. Wright patiently waits for his blockers to get out in front before climbing to the second level.

He can also run with power and makes it tough for defenders to bring him down. At the NFL Scouting Combine, Wright had a 4.38 40-yard dash and also finished with the second-highest athleticism at RB with 93.

In his collegiate career, Wright had 2,297 rushing yards and 18 total touchdowns. He has the skillset to be an impactful playmaker as a rookie.
