As the calendar turns to 2024, there are still plenty of free agents still on the market that could fill the Rangers' needs this coming season. Some big names are still available (Montgomery, Hader, Stroman), but it's the overlooked names that could contribute to a Rangers repeat.

Here are 5 overlooked free-agents still on the market for the Rangers in 2024.

1. Jordan Hicks

Hicks is the definition of a high-upside guy that can light up the radar gun. Hicks has one of the better fastballs in the sport sitting an average 100.3 MPH to go with a video game 100 MPH sinker.

These eye-popping velocity numbers did not necessarily translate fully early on in his young career, but things seemed to turn around a bit upon getting traded to Toronto. Hicks posted a 2.63 ERA in 25 appearances with the Blue Jays, the first time being sub-3.00 in his career.

Hicks is just 27 years old and has improved every year since his debut in 2018. With some of the best stuff in baseball, Hicks has the ability to dominate big-league hitters. Something this Rangers bullpen needs in the worst way possible.

Overlooked due to a slow start to his career, but in terms of upside alone, Hicks may be the top option out of all available free-agents. Coming out of the pen, Hicks could provide a massive boost for Texas.
