The Rangers opened the 2024 season with some flare taking 2 out of 3 from the Cubs thanks to a Jonah Heim walk-off and an 11-2 boat race in game 2. Even with dropping the getaway Sunday afternoon game, Texas looks promising for the early goings in 2024.

Here are five takeaways from the Rangers opening series.

#1: Wyatt Langford Can Do More than Just Hit

Langford DH'd two of the three games over the weekend, but despite limited action in the outfield, he showed he is, and will be, more than a dude that can crush.

For starters, his first career MLB hit came via an infield single where he showed plus speed to go with showing a mature approach at the plate. Forcing pitchers to come to him, understand situations, and the ability to take a walk when it is there.

Game 3 is where he really showed off in his first action in left field. Early on, Langford flashed the leather making an athletic, sliding play going towards the line. Then showed the power, speed combo hitting a seed off the wall to the deepest part of the yard and booking it for a triple.

The kid has it all.
