Trevon Diggs

Another star defender who failed to provide the type of production Cowboys fans expect from him was two-time Pro Bowler Trevon Diggs. Matched up against one of the best young pass-catchers in the league Malik Nabers, the star cornerback wasn't able to slow him down at all. Nabers wasn't able to catch the most important pass of the game in the final Giants drive of the game, but he had 12 receptions on 15 targets for 115 yards.

Tackling was a serious problem for the Cowboys throughout the game and Diggs was one of the biggest offenders. He had two missed tackles and finished the game with just one tackle. With a 51.2 PFF grade for the game, Diggs was one of the worst defenders on the field for the Cowboys.

This was the third straight week of underwhelming performances for the 27-year-old. It is important to remember that he is still coming off an ACL tear that forced him to miss the entire 2023 season after Week 2. It is understandable that Diggs would have a slow start to the 2024 campaign. However, considering that fellow cornerback DaRon Bland is out with an injury, Diggs has to step up and start slowing down wide receivers.

For the season, Diggs has allowed 13 catches on 19 attempts when targeted according to PFF, with only one interception to his name. The Cowboys defense is not going to get to where it needs to be with its best cornerback not producing.
