The Dallas Cowboys have a lot of things to answer during this upcoming season. They have had some regular-season success but it has not translated to the playoffs.

There have been some questions that have risen regarding the team's ability to get over the hump in the playoffs. That mixed in with the looming extensions surrounding the team isn't the kind of offseason Dallas envisioned. But that comes with being America's Team.

One of the biggest question marks on the roster is about the future of Dak Prescott. He's entering the last year of his deal and is slated to hit the open market next March. He recently said "the money is out there" and he has an obligation to his teammates and other quarterbacks on his next deal. That comes across that he wants to give a top-dollar contract and you can't blame him when you look at the market.

With that being a big hurdle to overcome, the Dallas Cowboys have their eyes on the son of a former Dallas superstar.

Cowboys News: Dallas Is a Wild Card for Shedeur Sanders in 2025 NFL Draft

Shedeur Sanders is heading into his senior season at the University of Colorado and plays under his father Deion Sanders.

Shedeur has emerged as a confident, athletic signal caller. He owns a powerful throwing arm and has good twitch in the pocket. His touch on all three levels of the field is evident and he has a big-time season on the way. Last season, he threw for 3,230 passing yards with 27 passing touchdowns and just three interceptions.

There are mixed opinions on his draft range but most draft experts have him as either a first or second-round pick.

With there being questions about Prescott's future in Dallas, an NFC scout believes the Cowboys are a wild card for Shedeur in next April's draft.

"With the Dak contract mess happening and struggling to pay their other stars, you better believe that Jerry has it in the back of his mind what the benefits of a young and cheap QB could be for that team if they crash and burn again in the playoffs. Imagine a home-state kid whose dad not only played for your franchise but was a highly successful player, and Shedeur is the type of player that'd embrace the star on the side of his helmet."

Even though we have a lot of time before the 2025 NFL Draft, things move quickly and if the Cowboys fail to extend Prescott, they'll be looking for a new signal caller.

Deion played for the Cowboys from 1995-1999, winning two Super Bowls, and grabbed 14 interceptions.

He was electric during his tenure in Dallas and developed a great relationship with owner Jerry Jones. Now if Jones had the opportunity to select Deion's son, he would jump at the chance.

Again, we have a long road before getting there but just know the Cowboys will be keeping an eye on Shedeur.
