The Dallas Cowboys are officially gearing up for Week 2 as practice for Sunday's contest gets underway. Considering how the team played in the opener, it appears the early returns on Dallas' moves this offseason are positive, so the Cowboys aren't desperate to make a rash signing at the moment.

There's several other teams who are, however, after falling in Week 1. And it turns out one ex-Cowboy has benefited as a result.

On Wednesday, the Indianapolis Colts announced they signed two players to their practice squad, including cornerback Kelvin Joseph. His name should immediately ring a bell to Dallas fans, as he was once a second-round pick by the team in the 2021 draft.

Unfortunately, Joseph never came close to living up to the lofty expectations of him. He managed to appear in just 10 games as a rookie, recording zero interceptions, two passes defensed, and a fumble recovery fumble.

The Kentucky product enjoyed a bigger role in 2022 with 16 appearances, but he struggled mightily. Joseph again tallied on two PD and zero INTs, meanwhile, he gave up 219 yards, four touchdowns, and a passer rating of 147.9 while in coverage.

As a downright liability in the secondary, Joseph forced the Cowboys' hand. He was subsequently traded to the Miami Dolphins prior to Week 1 last season in a swap for fellow draft bust Noah Igbinoghene.

Neither player showed enough to merit keeping around, and Joseph was cut midway through the year before finishing 2023 on the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad.

This is a foot in the door for Joseph, who could see elevations to the Colts' active roster. There's also a chance an opposing team rocked by injuries signs him away from Indy's PS, but he'll need to impress first before someone else gives him a chance on gamedays again.
