The Dallas Cowboys are not having the free agency their fans were hoping for. Not only have they lost a few key starters but they also haven't made any splashy acquisitions to bolster their chances to contend next season.

However, it's not all doom and gloom in Dallas. At least one key veteran is returning for another season.

According to Michael Gehlken of Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys are re-signing 28-year-old cornerback Jourdan Lewis to a one-year deal.

Cowboys News: Veteran CB Jourdan Lewis Returning to Dallas

Lewis is one of the longest-tenured Cowboys as the Michigan product is entering his eighth season with the team. He had suffered a serious foot injury in 2022, missing 11 games, before returning last season to appear in all but one game for Dallas. He finished the season playing 73% of snaps and registering 52 tackles, five passes defended, and one interception.

The Cowboys have one of the deepest defensive backfield rotations in the league with two of the most elite corners in Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland. They were left short-handed at times last season due to constant injuries but still managed to have a successful secondary defense.

Another veteran cornerback Stephon Gilmore is also an unrestricted free agent this offseason and the Cowboys are hoping to bring him back as well to continue having the most formidable corner rotation in the NFL.
