Cowboys Rookie Pops Up on Thursday Injury Report
By Cem Yolbulan
The Dallas Cowboys are kicking off the 2024 NFL season with a tough matchup on the road against the Cleveland Browns. Following an offseason full of drama and frustration, Cowboys fans can finally sit back and watch their team with a Super Bowl run on their minds.
As is the case for every NFL season, the injuries will play a huge part in the Cowboys' 2024 campaign. Dallas already received two devastating news on the defensive side of the ball that landed two starters, Sam Williams and DaRon Bland on the injured reserve list before the season even began. They will miss at least the first four weeks of the season.
At the same time, this presents an opportunity for young players and backups to step up to bigger roles. One of those players is rookie cornerback Caelen Carson, who is expected to start in Bland's stead. Unfortunately, however, things took an unexpected turn on Thursday as he ended up on the injury report according to The Athletic's Jon Machota.
Cowboys News: CB Caelen Carson Added to Injury Report
On the official injury report, Carson is seen as a full participant but is listed with a knee injury. That presumably indicates that he got hurt during practice. He reportedly walked without a visible limp after practice which can be seen as a good sign. However, his participation in Friday's practice will likely determine his availability for Sunday.
If Carson isn't ready to go against Cleveland, the Cowboys could be in real trouble. That would mean that Andrew Booth Jr. would likely get the nod opposite Trevon Diggs with Israel Mukuamu and CJ Goodwin potentially seeing snaps there. None of those options particularly instill confidence among the Cowboys fanbase who are already starting the season with a ton of pessimism.
