Cowboys Set New All-Time Record With Dominance Against Giants
By Tyler Maher
For the second time this season, the Dallas Cowboys absolutely dominated the New York Giants on Sunday.
After trouncing the Giants 40-0 in Week 1, the Cowboys didn't let up during their rematch in Week 10. Dallas went up early and kept piling on, running away with a 49-17 victory.
While the Cowboys have historically owned New York, this season was something else. Dallas outscored the G-Men 89-17 this year, making this the most lopsided season series against New York in franchise history.
The Giants simply failed to show up for either of these division rivalry games. They had all offseason to prepare for the Cowboys in Week 1, but they still managed to get shut out and surrender 40 points, getting totally roasted on both sides of the ball.
With Dallas at 5-3 and New York at 2-7 heading into Week 10, another bloodbath appeared to be in the cards, especially with rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito making his first career NFL start.
Not surprisingly, the Cowboys' defense feasted. Dallas sacked DeVito five times, intercepted him once, and held him to 14-of-27 passing for just 86 yards.
With such a feeble offensive attack that went 0-for-12 on third down, the Giants never had a chance. Their defense was once again completely overwhelmed by the Cowboys' potent offense, which racked up 7 touchdowns, including 5 from Dak Prescott (4 throwing, 1 rushing). Dallas amassed a whopping 640 total yards of offense compared to just 172 for New York.
With the Giants all but guaranteed to miss the playoffs, they'll have to wait until next year to get another crack at the Cowboys. Hopefully they can at least make it somewhat competitive next time.
