The Dallas Cowboys have been heavily discussed since their season abruptly ended at home in the Wild Card round.

A lot of discussions were about how this team could take a serious jump to become Super Bowl contenders but that quickly took a backseat as the contract extensions for Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons took over.

The Cowboys have failed to extend anyone of them but there may be a shift towards Prescott.

Cowboys News: Dak Prescott and Dallas Have Recently Discussed a New Deal

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport was speaking on From The Insiders on July 9 and he disclosed that Prescott and the Cowboys have had conversations on a new potential deal.

"Wouldn't be surprised if it was a little bit of a shorter deal. I know the fact that people have mentioned the number 60, as in 60 million per year. The fact that it's not crazy just based on where he is, what the numbers have been, the kind of leverage he has, this could be the kind of contract we're talking about. "

That number shouldn't shock fans as we know the QB market is through the roof. Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence are tied for first in the league at $55 million a year and the next QB contract will shatter that mark.

Prescott has been the starting quarterback for eight seasons in Dallas and has notched a 73-41 record.

The 30-year-old has taken his play to another level over the last three years under Mike McCarthy and is a big reason why Dallas won the division last year. Prescott was third in the league in passing yards (4,516), second in QBR (72.7), and first in passing touchdowns (36).

Despite his struggles in the postseason, Prescott is one of the top 10 quarterbacks in the league. Getting him on a potential two or three-year deal at $60 million may be the best course of action to retain your star QB and take care of the most important position on the football field.
