No matter what the Cowboys do, whether it's good or bad, they'll be in the news cycles. This offseason was the perfect case of that.

After getting packed up in the Wild Card Round, they failed to make any splashy or big-time additions. Actually, they lost a lot of valuable contributors this offseason, from coaches to players. Dallas let Tyron Smith, Tony Pollard, Stephon Gilmore, Tyler Biadasz, Jayron Kearse, and Dan Quinn all walk.

Now with training camp picking up around the league, one former Cowboy thinks he'll get scooped up soon.

NFL News: Stephon Gilmore Believes He’ll Be Signed Soon

Gilmore, who was acquired by the Cowboys for a fifth-round pick in 2023, is still an available free agent.

Despite sitting on the open market for the past five months, Gilmore is confident he'll land somewhere soon. He expressed that same sentiment to Josina Anderson over the phone.

He said, "There are still some good corners and safeties out there like Justin Simmons and myself that are still not signed. Honestly, I’m still being patient and staying ready until teams see what they have in training camp; but you mean to tell me among 32 teams that there are 64 starting corners that are better than me? I don’t think that."

Gilmore then added, "If teams want to win, I think they should sign the best players. I know I’m still a starter in this league. I started games last year, but the season doesn’t start until September, we got a while."

The five-time Pro Bowler has a point, as he played at a high-level last season for the Cowboys, despite being 33 years old.

When Trevon Diggs went down with a torn ACL, Gilmore was able to be a consistent defender on the backend. Across 17 games last season, he racked up 68 total tackles, 13 pass deflections, and one forced fumble. He also finished with a 74.4 overall PFF grade and had an 83.3 passer rating allowed.

Based on those stats and his resume alone, Gilmore should be able to find a landing spot over the next couple of weeks. If a team experiences an injury at corner or someone isn't producing the way the team envisioned in training camp, Gilmore would be the perfect veteran player to add.

He doesn't sound too worried as football games don't kick off for another seven weeks. By then, he should certainly have a new home.
